What is a Digital Product Passport?
Digital Product Passports (DPPs) are unique, public micro-websites that are dynamically generated for each device. DPPs include hardware specifications, comprehensive hardware test results, photos, a certificate of data destruction, a record of upgrades, and the device's GPS location. They give documented proof that a device has been received and refurbished.
How it works
- After donors complete the donation form, they receive a donation ID for each device they plan to donate.
- Once the devices are received, a unique Digital Product Passport is dynamically created for each device. Custom software is used to capture and associate the device's hardware details, GPS location and certificate of data destruction with the DPP.
- Donors are then sent links to each DPP along with a donation receipt.
Benefits for Donors and Businesses
Proof of Receipt: Each DPP provides a detailed report containing essential information, including the manufacturer, model, serial number, processor, RAM, storage specifications, and inspection status. This gives proof that your device was received, tested, and processed.
Proof of Data Destruction: We use industry-leading data erasure software to securely wipe all drives and generate verifiable certificates of data destruction, which are recorded on the DPP.
Donation and Asset Disposition Reports
The data in your DPP can be used to generate itemized tax write-off documentation reports and disposition reports for your company.
Accurate Valuation
Each passport includes data such as hardware specifications and condition, which is used to determine a fair resale value, much like a Carfax report for electronics.
NFT Tokenization
Devices can be tokenized as NFTs, enabling secure digital ownership tracking and authenticity verification.
